A woman was killed in a crash between a car and mack truck pulling a semi-trailer in Nassau County.
It happened on Friday, July 26 at about 2:30 p.m. in East Hills, Nassau County Police said.
According to detectives, a 36-year-old man, while traveling eastbound on the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway and operating a 2005 Mack truck pulling a 2004 Spectra Marine semi-trailer, was involved in a collision with a 2017 Audi Q7 traveling northbound on Roslyn Road, said police.
As a result of the collision, the woman, age 77, driving the Audi suffered multiple trauma injuries, was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased by a staff physician at 3:52 p.m.
Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks.
The Mack truck driver suffered a laceration to his head and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing and neither the name nor place of residence of the victim have been released.
